Baking

Welcome to Rainbow Time Baking!

Your child will spend the next 5 Friday afternoons with Mrs Marriott and Mrs Guest. We will be following instructions to bake up some delicious treats that they will get to take home and share with you. By the end of the half term they will have baked a range of sweet and savoury treats and will have compiled their very own recipe books so they can recreate the tasty delights at home. In the final showcase week you will be invited into school to take part in Priestsic’s very own ‘Great British Bake Off’. The date for this is Friday 26th October – put it in your diaries.

We are very much looking forward to our Rainbow Time sessions with your child and seeing you at the showcase event.

19th October

This week in baking we made Rainbow cookies. The older children followed the recipe independently this week and they did fantastically well. The younger children worked with the adults to carefully follow the recipe. Unfortunately there aren’t any pictures this week as we were an adult down (Mrs Guest was poorly) but we are confident you got to taste how hard they worked!

Next week is their final baking Rainbow Time – we will be practising our decorating skills and creating some tasty Halloween treats.

12th October

This week in baking the children worked together to follow a recipe for creating flapjacks (3 different types). They had to weigh out their own ingredients and follow each step of the recipe very carefully. The children are already getting much better at using the scales and accurately weighing out their ingredients. Our classroom smelt amazing (even though one tray of flapjacks got burnt!) and they did a wonderful job of tidying up after themselves this week! We are very proud of how well the children worked together and what good role models the Year 6s are becoming.

Next week we will be cooking up another savoury treat for you cheese and ham muffins.

5th October
