Welcome to Foundation One!
Our learning takes place inside in our classrooms as well as outside. We have a learning area outside and we regularly visit the garden too.
This half term we are going to be learning about Emergency Services and how they help us. We will be looking at the Fire Service, Police and Ambulance. We will learn about these services through books, art work and many other fun activities. We will also be sharing books by our author of the half term, Catherine and Laurence Anholt.
We develop lots of the muscles and skills ready to write while we are at nursery. Even though we might not look like it. We do balancing activities to develop our core strength. We develop our grip on objects when using scissors, playing in the water and through other fine motor activities. We also start to look carefully at things when we are doing jigsaws and creating patterns.
We have been making reading rockets. They are somewhere cosy for us to go and sit with a book!

We made chocolate dipped apples and had hotdog and mushy peas to celebrate bonfire night. Our ‘Wow’ board is based around our Gingerbread Man theme. We have started adding different Gingerbread Men designs.
We enjoyed the planetarium and learning about the space.
We dressed up for Children in Need Day and decorated cakes to sell. Thank you for all the kind donations.
We had lots of fun with the nocturnal animals in the hall. He held them in our hands and touched them gently. We even had the Python snake around our neck. We were very brave!
We have enjoying listening to the ‘Owl Babies’ and ‘Oliver’s Wood’ story based around owls. We loved watching Archie, Spiky and Gizmo flying around the school hall and we were very brave to hold them on our arm.
We had lots of fun at drumming workshop. We all had a drum each to play and sing songs.
We have had a great start to nursery with lots of fun and exciting activities. We have settled in well to our nursery routines and enjoy coming to nursery to learn and play with our friends. We enjoy playing and learning indoors and in the outdoors as well as exploring in the 8A garden.
Topic: Traditional Tails: The Three Little Pigs
Role play- The Three Little Pigs
We have enjoyed reading different traditional tail stories but our favourite was the Three Little Pigs story. We enjoyed retelling the story in our role-play area and building houses for the pigs. We had lots of fun painting the pigs houses and collaging them, paint mixing and painting the pigs and other characters for our topic display board.
We have been enjoying the Dough Disco using the play-dough to make different things. We celebrated the National Poetry day and sang nursery rhymes. Every Friday we have been celebrating Acts of Kindness with our friends.
We enjoyed our visit from a librarian who read the ‘Shark in the Park’ story to us. Some of our parents came to join us. We had lots of fun looking for the shark in the book using the binoculars. We also enjoyed singing the 5 little ducks song.
We had lots of fun at the puppet workshop, where we got to listen to different traditional tails and joined in retelling stories using the puppets. We really enjoyed telling the ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’ story using the big puppets.
We celebrated Harvest with the Foundation Two children and made a kind donation to the Salvation Army.
We enjoyed making fairy cakes with Miss Slack. They tasted yummy!
