Woodwork

Welcome to Rainbow Time Woodwork!

We welcomed our new Rainbow Time Group this week - and we have been very impressed with them! Your child will spend the Friday afternoons of this half term with Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Gorman. We will be learning how to safely use the different tools required for woodwork ands practising the different joints used by joiners. By the end of the half term they are aiming to have made a Christmas decoration to bring home to put on their Christmas trees.

Friday 9th November

We have been learning about the different joints joiners use and having a go at making our own remembrance day crosses, using different tools and equipment safely.

Welcome to Rainbow Time Woodwork!

Your child will spend the next 5 Friday afternoons with Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Gorman. We will be learning how to safely use the different tools required for woodwork, practising the different joints used by joiners. By the end of the half term they are aiming to have made a bird table or some mini bird nesting boxes to help the birds during the winter months.

Week 2

We have been learning about the different joints joiners use and having a go at making our own woodwork joints posters, using different tools and equipment safely.

Week 3

The children continued to learn about and practise different joints. They used screws and nails to join the pieces of wood this week. They are showing a really good understanding of how to use the tools safely and are making Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Gorman really proud.

Week 4

This week we have been working together to build our bird table. We  have  been busy sanding all the parts and then used some different tools to put it together. We  are  very proud of what we  have  created. Some lucky person will be able to win it in our showcase week.

Week 6

The children created posters this week showing and explaining how to use all of the different tools they have used during their Rainbow Time sessions. Have a look at the photos below and see how proud each child is of what they have accomplished.
