Welcome to Rainbow Time Woodwork!
Your child will spend the next 5 Friday afternoons with Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Gorman. We will be learning how to safely use the different tools required for woodwork, practising the different joints used by joiners. By the end of the half term they are aiming to have made a bird table or some mini bird nesting boxes to help the birds during the winter months. In the final showcase week you will be invited into school to see what your child has been learning and to help them put the finishing touches to their wooden masterpieces. The date for this is Friday 26th October – put it in your diaries.
We are very much looking forward to our Rainbow Time sessions with your child and seeing you at the showcase event.
We have been learning about the different joints joiners use and having a go at making our own woodwork joints posters, using different tools and equipment safely.
The children continued to learn about and practise different joints. They used screws and nails to join the pieces of wood this week. They are showing a really good understanding of how to use the tools safely and are making Mrs Bloomfield and Mrs Gorman really proud.
This week we have been working together to build our bird table. We have been busy sanding all the parts and then used some different tools to put it together. We are very proud of what we have created. Some lucky person will be able to win it in our showcase week.
