EAL

Here at Priestsic we are welcoming and accepting of all cultures, creeds and backgrounds. It is important to celebrate and explore diversity to promote equality.

We have an exciting variety of languages spoken at Priestsic and we love learning about different countries and cultures.

If you have any celebrations or traditions that are special to your family and culture we would love to learn about them.

Below attached is a document with useful QR codes for translators and quick links to make you and your child’s stay at Priestsic Primary more accessible.

If you need further information or wish to speak to someone regarding EAL, please contact Mr Barrett (EAL Lead).

What is EAL?

English as an Additional Language is what is commonly known as EAL. All children who regularly hear languages other than English used in the home, either from one or both parents or even from other relatives, have the skill of using English as an additional language. Some children when they first come to Priestsic haven't heard or used English before. Other children when they first come to Priestsic have a level of understanding. It is our task to help all children grow in their confidence in using English both with their friends in the playground and in using language that will help their learning.
