W.C. 04.05.20

Summer 1 Week 3

This half term we will be exploring rural areas (countryside) and comparing them to the more urban areas (towns) where we live.

During this topic we will be learning about animals that live in rural habitats and how the animals are adapted to suit their habitat. The children will also build on their knowledge of life cycles and food chains. Our book focus for this half term is 'Little Evie and the Wild Woods.' The children will explore the character of the wolf and compare the wolf's character to characters in other famous tales and stories.

Daily Maths and English

This week you will be recapping

Monday: Addition and subtraction bonds to 20

Tuesday: Comparing number sentences using the greater than, less than and equals symbols

Wednesday: Related addition and subtraction facts

Thursday: Add and subtract ones

Friday: Problem solving linked to the BBC Daily Page

English this week is all about the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood. Below is a link to a video of the story but you will need to read the copy in your packs to answer the questions.

It would be lovely to see some stories being written using the pictures from the website Pobble365 as a starting point. Remember a story needs an opening, a build up, a problem, a resolution and an ending. There are some great pictures. A house in the woods discovered by possibly Red Riding Hood, a picture linked to the Harry Potter books and a Thank you note. Who wrote it?
