Welcome Back to Spring 1 in Year 5!
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year with your family.
We are very excited to be back and are very much looking forwards to our learning this half term!
Our focus text in English to kick off the new half term will be Beowulf by Michael Morpurgo which links into our new Learning Journey, Anglo Saxons and Vikings with our focus question being "Who were the real villains?" We will be creating powerful descriptions, working on punctuating dialogue to create an exciting story based on Beowulf and Grendel.
Our maths continues with multiplication and division, looking at formal methods, then moving on to area and perimeter. Our next topic will then be fractions before half term. We will continue with our daily arithmetic practice and our Flashback 4s also.
Children's Mental Health Week 1-7th February
The theme of this year's Children’s Mental Health Week is Express Yourself.
Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.
We will be having a focus activity each day to provide you with strategies to help you to look after your mental health. We would love to see you pictures on dojo and then we can do a showcase on the website too!
Home Learning Packs
The home learning packs for Year 5 will closely run along side the live lessons via Teams.
