TT Rockstar Day

TT Rock stars

As you will already be aware, as a school we have signed up to TT Rock Stars. The website allows the children to practise their times tables through a competitive element. When you log on, you can select different areas known as arenas to complete a range of times table tests. As the teacher, we can set the times tables which we want the children to be able to access. Your child should be using the times table rockstars log in on a regular basis as part of their school homework. I

What is Times Table Rock Stars?

Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practise.  Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practised every third week or so.

What are its aims?

The programme has one aim - to boost times table recall speeds.

What are the benefits of Times Table Rock Stars?

  • Incorrect answers are always immediately corrected in front of the pupil so that they start to associate the correct answer to every question.
  • The clever code behind the scenes works out which times tables facts each pupil is consistently taking longer to answer and then it gradually starts to present these facts more frequently until pupils have mastered them.
  • It will also ask related division questions 20% of the time in order to reinforce division facts

TT Rockstar Day!

To relaunch the Times Tables Rock Stars learning platform, we held a Rock Stars Day on Friday 23rd September. Children were encouraged to dress up as a rock star on the day, rocking their air guitars (or inflatable ones)! They all looked incredible! During the day, we also launched the new Times Tables Olympic Challenge, where children can earn stickers, certificates, badges and even medals.

Please enjoy looking through the photos of what all the year groups got up to during the day.

Year 1

Year 2

We had a great day in Year 2! We chanted our twos, fives and tens times tables with our best rockstar moves, battled on times tables rockstars and spent the afternoon playing practical maths games outside.

Year 3

Such a great day was had by all and the children looked amazing in their Rockstar outfits. Well done to all of the children that made the launch day a great success.

Year 4

We had a fantastic time in Year 4 on Rockstar Day! Throughout the day we practised times tables, challenged each other on TTR and generally rocked out! The event really helped encourage children with their times tables and have some fun along the way. Thank you everyone who went the extra mile for making it such a good event. You can see some highlights from our day below.

Year 5

What an amazing Rockstar Day we had! Our Rockstar day was jam-packed with exciting ways to practise our timestables. We especially enjoyed playing 'Maths, paper, scissors', splat and many more games. Finding fun ways to practise our maths knowledge is always welcome in Year 5, and we LOVED rocking out on Rockstar Day!

Year 6

We had an incredible day as Rock Stars in Year 6! We had a Rock Out session during maths where half the children were a 3 or 4 digit number and the other half were a single digit number, we had to rock out (hand banging, air guitaring and dancing) to Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Guns and Roses and ACDC - whenever Mrs Marriott stopped the music the children had to pair up (3 digit with a single digit) and work out their multiplication. We had a "rocking" time! We logged onto TTRS and had a battle between the Year 6 classes - Mrs Small's class were victorious! Well done! We had a fab time dueling it out on Hit the Button and really enjoyed making our own multiplication board games.
